DONNY PARENTEAU
NOMINATED FOR
2008 JUNO AWARD (Aboriginal Recording of the Year - WHAT IT TAKES)

  photo of Donny Parenteau

Toronto / Canada / February 5, 2008.    Donny Parenteau’s successes in 2007 are what most musicians’ dream of.  The highest nominated artist at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards, he was also nominated at The Western Canadian Music Awards, The Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, and The Canadian Country Music Awards with a staggering total of 18 nominations in 4 awards shows in 2007.  His combined 7 wins at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards and The Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards completed his year on a high note.

As 2008’s momentum swings in to high gear, Donny Parenteau for a second year in a row, retains the title of Saskatchewan’s highest nominated artist with 9 Saskatchewan Country Music Award nominations; in addition to that, he has received accolades in the form of a JUNO nomination for Aboriginal Recording of the Year -- WHAT IT TAKES.  “Talk about dreams coming true,“ exclaimed an excited Parenteau, “2007 was a tremendous year for me, and to begin 2008 with 9 SCMA nods and a 2008 JUNO nomination is incredible.”

The excitement doesn’t stop there.  In March, Donny will tour and fill the province of Saskatchewan’s casinos with US Grammy nominated “King of Cajun” musician, Jo-El Sonnier and perform the single, Old Man Thibodeaux penned by Donny from his current CD, WHAT IT TAKES.  July 13th, Donny will perform at Craven Country Jamboree with Neal McCoy, Dierks Bentley and Toby Keith.

After twelve years of touring with Neal McCoy and working with George Jones, Charley Pride, Loretta Lynn, Charlie Daniels, Hank Williams JR, Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Shania Twain, to name a few, Donny returned to his hometown of Prince Albert, to pursue his own career in the Canadian Country Music Industry.  Donny’s CD, WHAT IT TAKES is signed to a distribution deal with LANDWASH DISTRIBUTION.  His musical versatility in playing the fiddle, mandolin, acoustic and electric guitar, as well as the unique double neck mando-caster/electric guitar accompanied by his superior vocal ability continues to contribute to his on-going success.

Kevin Collins named "Ambassador of the year"

Kevin Collins"Kevin Collins Win's "Ambassador of the Year" Award from Hospitality, Newfoundland and Labrador and Tourism Industry Association" June 13, 2007

Kevin Was presented with the award by Executive Director of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador's, Nancy Healey.

Kevin is seen in attached photo with Minister of Tourism Tom Hedderson, Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador's Executive Director Nancy Healey and City Of St. John's Deputy Mayor Dennis O'Keefe.

The citation read as follows:

Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador presented an Ambassador of Hospitality Award to singer/songwriter Kevin Collins at the St. John’’s Tourism Awards Presentation held at St. John’’s City Hall yesterday.

Kevin Collins has been captivating audiences throughout Newfoundland and Labrador for many, many years. He started singing as a young boy at the age of six and began performing in pubic at age eleven. The tremendous influence of his family, community and home life are evidenced throughout many of his songs, which effectively capture the spirit of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Having become a nationally and internationally recognized performer, this individual has remained true to his traditional roots, promoting and regaling the majesty of our province and its people wherever he goes. His heartfelt dedication to Newfoundland and Labrador is further evidenced throughout much of his music, which not only entertains listeners, but entices, enchants and excites them with tales of our culture, our history, our people and our heritage.

One of the nominators for this individual, and there were many, quoted him as saying ““Newfoundland is a place where hospitality and friendship is not a business, but a way of life.”” These words simply and beautifully convey his dedication and passion for Newfoundland and Labrador, making him a wonderful ambassador for this province.

Congratulations, Kevin!

Kevin's Love of music is exceeded only by his love for his people and Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. He is a humbled, honored and proud recipient of this prestigious award and would like to thank The Tourism Industry Association and Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador for their recognition and confidence in his endeavors, as he continues to hammer home Kevin's phrase and let the whole world know that "Newfoundland is a place where hospitality and friendship is not a business, but a way of life"
